I've decided that every month I am going to focus on growing an aspect of my illustration techniques. This month I'm focusing on improving my backgrounds with more detail! I really suck at remembering to draw in backgrounds because I am usually focusing on the characters. Mike is usually the one to point out that my backgrounds are sadly blank and need to be drawn in. Sometimes I get lazy too and just draw in very simplified backgrounds. But let's face it folks, as readers you learn information by two means; what is written in the dialog and what is illustrated in the panels. They are equally important when conveying information! I want you guys as the readers to not only know they are in a creepy old castle from what the characters are saying, but also what you SEE there. So, I'm improving my backgrounds.
