Marita’s Song
Welcome to my circus,
But that ticket wasn’t free.
Don’t bother asking for a price,
You couldn’t pay that fee.
A massive array of freaks,
And terrible delights.
No one can resist
These three rings tonight.
Inside the House of Mirrors,
There is no escape
From the most terrifying thing of all.
The face you see reflected back
One thousand times on every wall.
Your darkest desires
Lay at my feet.
These tasty treats
Will be your toll
To enter my freak show.
Come and see my pets
No bearded ladies here.
Double limbs and
Mutilated babes.
Every one a dream.
The woman turned stone
The mad child with his skin of scales.
Do not be distracted by
Those men in black.
They’ll steal your soul
Before the final act.
Ladies and gentlemen
Don’t be alarmed
We have more to please.
My puppets, my dears
Let me make the dance for you.
Twist their bodies
And stretch the skin.
What more could one ask?
An execution, perhaps?
A failing trapeze?
Let me be your ringmaster.
I promise shock and surprise
And the greatest night,
Of your greatly shortened lives.
So welcome, to my circus.
May I take your ticket, please?
