KB: Not bad for an opening comic, considering I didn't really know what I was doing yet. It captures the tone of Mudtown fairly well. Wish I had written it in a way that was more visually dynamic, though, and I'm not sure whether it's funny or just weird.
GB: The first Mudtown! I drew relentlessly as a kid and through high school, but got sidetracked in my 20s by stage acting, filmmaking, and other creative pursuits (occasionally doing commission art for flyers and birthday gifts, but not very frequently at all). We started Mudtown when I was 31 and it was the most content I produced, most steadily, in over a decade. So I can see a lot of mistakes and chronological re-education.
In the very earliest strips I used this soft charcoal for shading. I don't know why I stopped doing that, because a lot of the later ones would be improved with that added depth and balance. I had a lot to figure out. But this works alright as a debut.
