hullos! three days in a row I'm on a stream! I'm really hyped up about the comic at the moment. so i might keep up this daily thing! cause I'm really, really egar to get to the next story arch and writing the comic at the moment is so much fun! seriously, i drew out like three pages today for NPC. thats like 21 panels in total. cause i just felt like doing it! i think i might have gotten a biiit carried away with this whole exposure thing with Felix's background. but to be truthful I'm being horribly vague about all this. Now i don't know if anyone actually reads these boring comments i make here but i think i have to clear some bits up for some of you right now before going any further about Felix.
First off, it would be good to note that concerning his background Felix does contradict himself. "do i look like a freaking faerie?" and "i don't look it? hello! silver hair and red freaking eyes!" it has to be said Felix is a bit more than touchy about the subject. because like Chalcie said, Fae are extreamly rare. more than extreamly, most are thought to be extinct. also you'll note that Felix does make some stuff up too on the subject of Fae, because he dosn't like to admit even though he is part-fae he knows pretty much only slightly more than everyone else about the subject. yes he knew his great-gran really, really well but she never really said much consernign her own race to him. after all what would be the point to an NPC? sure she'd tell him about magic and such like but thats more like an old lady teaching her grandkids how to knit kind of thing.
so let me just give you a few facts on Fae. or more precisly Druids. cause i want people to know why it migth be important and again why it wont be.
Fae is what you describe a big race made up of smaller races. Druids, nymphs, sprites, fairies, and such like are a part of this big family. they range in appearance and powers. to be generally classified as a fae creature you need more or less the following:
1) to be immortal
2) to have inborn magical ability
3) spirit magic
4) to technically not exist
it can be argued by some people that Elves are also Fae as they are both immortal and are a race that can use spirit magic. but they do not like other fae have inborn magical talent. they have to learn it and some are incapable. but Elves do i guess count as fae.
now Druids. if you know anything about folklaw you'll know druids are "tree people" that is fae that spirits that are attached to their tree. they tend to not be able to go far from their trees. most druids in this world stay sleeping in their tree forms rather than go around in their human. Druids like all Fae have inborn magic which is elemental. they are stronger in air and earth magic, they can manipulate water and most cannot manage fire. trees and fire don't go see? they also have a strong spirit magic because of their tree bond. A druid's human form can't really be killed, as they can go back to their trees to heal. only by killing the tree can you kill the druid.
so what does this mean with felix being part Druid? well more or less nothing. yes he does have inborn magic which he could use. problem is he wouldn't even know where to begin though his gran did try and teach him when he was younger incase he did ever wake up. he is not bonded with a tree, and he is quite mortal. he does have some physical difference to full blooded humans. with the hair and the eyes. also his quite short (fae folk arn't tall, he appears taller in this strip because theya re going up stairs) he also has funny looking ears behind that hair, not like Deme's, smaller and kind of leafy. also when he comes of age druid markings will start appearing on his body. you'll see what i mean by those in tomorrow's strip.
I think thats it. being half-fae wont effect Felix at all. but it is highly important for the next story arch after this one. but not for Felix ;)anyways, the next three strips will have some more explaining of sorts with them. for those of you who don't read the comments. lol
