Sway onA lot of Issue 0 was just me experimenting and trying things out on the page. I had kind of labored over the pacing of the fight scene for awhile, deciding how I wanted it to play out. Ultimately I fell back on one of my favorite techniques from one of my favorite old school artists, the Jack Kirby nine panel:

Obviously what I did is not exactly the same, but I tried to keep the concept of momentum and speed, and using the strength of the comic medium to cover a lot of ground in only a handful of frames. As I've played around with making comics more and more, I've discovered that one of the most important aspects of laying out a comic, to me, is efficiency. That was especially important for this proof-of-concept, with the heavy page constraints put on it.
