The curved sideburn style is one that is very popular right now in the NS universe. Timmy and Zoppy both got it to try and up their rather low cool factor.
Random Fact: Almost all the NS characters started off life as the children of two charby characters. There was a game on the CTV forum where people could pair any two CTC characters and Amelius would draw what their child would look like. While most of the character have since changed a bit since then but many of the character personalities were inspired by those first drawings.
