Yes…the title is a reference to the Van Halen song…
Azure is my favorite hamstersaurus ^_^(that's not what they're really called though) Actually, he came from the sketch game courtesy of a Foomy and Benito amalgam, and I rather much played up the hamster portion of our dear messenger demon (it's often mistaken for a cat somehow…perhaps because he ate a crow)
and I think it looks really cute. As you can see he's got a crush on Minerva, it sorta reminds me of the Valentine episode of Charlie Brown in a way (poor Linus!)
The sort of geek in-joke is that instead of "English" we have "common", which is basically an elven language but the elves aren't keen on the "non-elfs" butchering their native tongue, so it is referred to as "common" instead of Elvish. The elves in NS are a little like the French….very protective of their identity, especially where language and culture is involved. Also, common and what is sometimes known as 'trade speak' are the terms many fantasy rpg's (like D&D) use to describe the language universally used by characters in the universe, especially if they don't want to make up a name for it. In our case, it's just humorous to call it common. Hopefully you'll find this sort of thing amusing, because there will be a lot of it in this comic ^_^
