#23 A heck of thing

Evil Emperor Nick
on

I am, I admit, sometimes I can be something of a knave and a rascal. I quite imagine if I were an imaginary creature I would almost certainly be some troublesome sprite or spirit. It isn't a part of my nature I dip into all too often, but as Amelius will tell you sometimes I'm quite good at it.

This came up yesterday in the form of Cheeko & my april fools joke.

I've always had this streek in me, from the time I was a small child. I used to stuff my father's shoes full of tissue paper and such so when he went to put his shoes on he would be momentarily perplexed as to why they didn't fit. Later on I practiced delivering outragous stories to my brother with a straight face. And now I uses these well practiced skills to sneak my dear Amelius's favorite foods up the checkout counter without her knowing (Though that isn't really much of a prank but I still delight in Amy's reaction to it in much the same way and that is good enough for me, not all tricks need be pranks.).

The rules of a good trick is as follows.

1. Don't do anything you wouldn't be able to laugh at if it was pulled on you.

2. Know your target, at the end both of you need to laugh.

3. Know when enough is enough.

4. Don't do it all the time or they'll see it comming (and frankly will stop finding it funny really fast).

5. Never get upset if a plan doesn't come together.

6. Do not laugh behind someone's back, let them in on the joke (eventually) or don't do it at all.

7. Don't over do it. To much of a good thing isn't.

8. Never act in mean spirits.

9. Be ready to laugh at yourself the most.

10. Apologize for jokes gone wrong, not for having a sense of humor.

I hope I followed all these rules with my April Fools joke and that everyone enjoyed it.

Good News: We handed of the Manga to PS and it was sent off to be texted yesterday. It has been a long road and hard journey but we are finally getting close to our first publication. I don't have a date yet but it looks like the manga will be out in July now due to it running slightly over schedule. We made some working mistakes along the way but we feel that all got ironed out in the process and we really learned a lot. When it arrives in stores this summer and some of you get a chance to read it I hope you see how we are even now peppering easter eggs between the comic and the manga. Keep your eyes peeled.
