~Page 15 - Magical Inventory~

The gaming industry keeps pushing the envelope to create increasingly realistic games. I saw a Call of Duty III commercial on TV, and for the first few seconds, I thought I was watching the preview for a movie - that's how convincing the graphics are.

Then, as you're playing any given game, it comes time to switch weapon… and your character reaches behind himself, and pulls a P-90 out of his ass. SO MUCH FOR REALISM.

I mean, sure, we've all shoved weapons up our asses for purposes of getting past airline security, but come on. All the advanced graphics in the world won't keep the player from thinking it's just a game when his character picks up a greataxe, puts it in his invisible backpack, and it disappears from sight.


PS. Sorry for the ~3 week hiatus - I was on field duty in Greenland drilling ice cores to analyze in the lab.
