Statistics (that I have just invented) show that in RPG games, 80% of players automatically skip anything an NPC has to say, 10% partially listen to NPC ramblings, 5% actually pay some attention, and 5% don't even truly understand the language.

Deckard Cain - a throwback for any who have played Diablo 2. We all loved the guy (since he would Identify our items for free), but no one actually listened to what this wise man had to say.

So I figured I'd turn the wise man into a wise guy.
