In any kind of game - video game, board game, tabletop RPG, etc. - there are always people who are so arrogant that they refuse to believe that someone can beat them through legitimate means. Either they are cheating somehow, or are employing tactics that are frowned upon for nonsensical reasons.
This has happened to me in online First Person Shooters. I grab a sniper rifle, find a nice high spot where I get a good view of the battlefield, and start filling heads with lead.
"camper" says someone after I headed-shot'ed him (I presume I had killed him at least once before).
So let me get this straight… in a game that gives us a sniper rifle, meant for use almost exclusively at long range, and in a map with excellent positions for snipers to roost, essentially encouraging sniping as a tactic, I am expected by other players to NOT take advantage of this? Wow.
By that logic, if you're in a vehicle, you should not kill infantry. It's just not fair.
You also shouldn't dodge enemy bullets. That's just not right. They're trying hard to aim at you. You're being a jerk if you're making yourself a difficult target.
And using health packs? Shit. After the enemy went through all that trouble of hurting you? That's disrespectful. All their hard work gone down the drain.
In fact, FPS games should be about sharing, caring, and forging long-term friendships through polite conversation and being mindful that any time you fire a bullet, you are possibly making someone else enjoy the game less.
To hell with all this bullshit.
You know what I say when someone calls me a camper?
"Stop whining and come kill me, bitch."
I have no respect for these crybabies. Too bad, so sad. Want me to stop sniping? Do like the REAL gamers and STOP me. Come frag my ass. Make sure I can't get back to my sniping spot. And don't make yourself an easy target by standing around like an idiot.
Sniping is legit. And as much as I like sniping, I LOVE anti-sniping - sniping other snipers.
