I've caught up with responding to comments. And the answer to the question I raised on Monday…

So I wanted to make a Blade knock-off. I figured "Sword" was too lame of a name, so I went with Slash. Then, I needed a "decoy" NPC that had to be a stark contrast to Blade. Since Blade has really dark skin, black tattoos, black sunglasses, and dresses mainly in black, I figured "black" was one of his defining characteristics. So, a "white" NPC would be the way to go. I wanted the NPC to have a weapon name, like Blade, but wanted a cleverer implementation than simply picking a weapon at random. So, after a bit of thought, I found a connection: BLAck = BLAde, WHIte = WHIp.
