A few months into No Parking people started emailing me about buying sketches and commissions. Being a novice to the web comic world, I decided to take people up on it and did a few commissions(my favorite was Barney, Pax and James doing the Spirit of 1976 pose). I did like five and all was well.
Then the weird commission ideas started coming in. I drew the line at Amanda and Barney doing something that I'm sure is illegal, even in California! Now if you're into that sort of thing that's fine, but I couldn't have my characters doing that. I try to keep a clean strip here. So I stopped doing them, partly because of time and partly because I didn't want to do porn.
At the recent I-Con science fiction convention I got approached to do a few commissions (they approached me, which amazed me). I decided to try it again.
The above piece was done at the con for a guy who told me he was good for the money and he'd send it after the con if he could have it now. I'm a novice to the web comic world, not an idiot. I told him I would hand it over as soon as he paid. He told me through out the weekend he'd have the money, and after the con even emailed me saying he's send the money. Then he asked for a discount on the agreed upon price, saying I should be ashamed to charge outrageous sums to my fans (we're talking only $3.00 by the way, it's a tiny sketch).
