I don't care if you're for or against the war, our troops deserve decent care when they come home wounded. Even though the news media has cooled on the story, I still hear tales of bad care and broken facilites, and that makes me mad.
I want to clarify something I said in the last comic's notes. I mentioned that John Buscema called my brush inking "a dying goose dragged itself across the page". I didn't want to relay this event as a jab at John Buscema, who was one of the best comic artists ever and a hero of mine. He said it while looking at my Marvel Try Out Book at a comic drawing contest back in the 1980's, and yes, my inking looked like a dying goose in the last spasms of life expiring on paper. When he said it he was critiquing my work, and gave me tips on how to improve after he ripped my stuff apart. A good teacher will do that and I appreciate him taking the time to look at my work and comment on it.
So please don't take what I said as Buscema being mean to me, it was quite the opposite. I apologize if it came across like that.
