NOCTURNE 21 SPECIAL #1: 19th Anniversary

Hey everyone! Today is kind of a special day so I thought I’d do a fun little post to commemorate it. Today is the 19th anniversary of the very first version of Nocturne 21. This is a collage of the very first scene of every version I’ve done. I started this thing back when I was a youngin’ as sort of a therapeutic angst comic. I don’t think I intended for this to go anywhere, but the more I worked on it, the more I started to care about it and come up with ideas and slowly turn it into a coherent readable story instead of the cringy rambling mess it started off as. There are five different versions of volume one as I kept drawing and improving my art and storytelling, I had to scrap the old versions and start over. As frustrating as it is that I’m 19 years into this story and still don’t have a published first volume, I am really happy that I stuck with it. It’s kind of cool to see the same scene done over the years and see the improvement. I find myself losing confidence a lot, but whenever I do, I try to look back at these old shitty notebook comics and remind myself that I’ve come a long way. I truly hope that I don’t have to make a sixth version though and that by this time next year, I will have a presentable volume one finally completed. I’m gonna fucking do it. Let’s goooooo!
