I don't know what it is with me and spider-man…I do it with batman, too. Usually to get me out of art slumps, I'll start drawing a batman or spider-man cast to draw SOMETHING.

The designs have evolved as I've gone for both…with Spidey I have a 60's ditko with some modern stuff going. This'd be like spidey year 1, I guess, with a 15 year old Peter and a little bit of my spin on it. My batman cast has a lot of Bob Kane in it, too…I guess I like the originals best. Though I'm sure if I got to use these designs in a professional setting at any point the "true fans" would hate them. Go figure.

-Peter is half the ditko sweatervest version, and half Rivers Cuomo (kind of by accident, but now that I've noticed it I can't unnotice it). I wanted to keep the big glasses and give kind of a preppy/nerdy fashion sense so he doesn't look like every other teenager. I don't like the blandness of his Ultimate Spider-Man design and a bunch of the others he's gotten over the years.

-Spidey himself is supposed to look a little gangly but still athletic. A build that starts looking unimpressive pretty fast as soon as some baggy clothing is over it. He'll grow into a more heroic looking figure, but at the moment he's still kind of scrawny.

-Flash is just Ditko flash…whatever. Same with Kraven.

-Betty Brant…I know her and Peter only dated for like five seconds, and she was batshit crazy for the last 4, but I like girls with dark hair and I like bobs. So she gets drawn a lot in these things.
