FFS #6: Everyone's a Critic

This comic, to put it quite frankly, was a rush job. I originally had a two-part comic planned that I deemed too…far out for this point in the life of the comic. That decision, of course, was made during the middle of this week. So, instead of putting up the comic that was set to follow part one of the two-parter, I put together a new comic to further illustrate the problems that Glenn was called out on in the last comic. I also wanted to show one of the characters at work, and a movie theatre seemed like such a good place.

I got the idea when I was thinking about how terrible I would be at tearing the tickets and telling people which theatre to go to. I wouldn't be able to help scoffing at some of the bad choices people make when they go to the movies. I thought that would be a funny idea, so I decided to immortalize it.

The original scripting process of this comic went through several iterations before I settled on the final one. Originally, Glenn was going to keep his job, but the third and fourth frame would have been a very long tirade about Spider-Man 3, and the crock of utter shit that movie ended up being. Then I decided that time has passed, and I need to move on. I know it's tough, but I can get through this. As long as I have beer in my fridge, of course.

In other news, I have been looking for a new place for a few weeks now, and I have been working hard to get far enough ahead in the comic so that I could just upload four or five comics right before I move just in case something happens with the internet in my new place, or anything like that. The update schedule will be the same, I will just set it to automatically update on Sundays.

The launch of Halo 3 is only sixteen days away, and I can't help but be a little bit excited about it. When the beta hit, I spent many a day, and even more nights playing it. I think I ended up somewhere around 200 ranked matches in the short time that it was available (part of that can and should be attributed to my old roommate), and I ended up getting quite good at it, which always was a problem for me in Halo 2. I just hope the campaign in Halo 3 is a little…well, a lot better than the garbage they threw at us in Halo 2.

I just want to call out the colouring on this comic, and how not good it is. I am well aware of the small errors here and there, and if anything, this one is just a test of the colouring. I am still getting used to Photoshop again, and because I am unable to colour in Flash, it is setting me back a little bit. I assure you that the other comic I have coloured is much better, and I blame this one on the fact that it is a rush job. I started drawing this comic yesterday at noon, and I didn't get it done until close to six, so…I spent a lot of time on it.

Hopefully I will be able to get everything taken care of for next week's comic, but who knows. I might spend some of my day today testing out different ways of doing the comic, including different inking styles, and ultimately purely digital creation of the art. Who knows how it will work out. I sure as shit don't.
