Author notes
Stunning conclusion, what?! On a serious note, for anyone that hasn't talked to me in the last two days, I have some terrible news. I found out Monday night that Kevin DuBrow died on Sunday. For those of you that don't know who Kevin DuBrow was, he was the lead singer of Quiet Riot. Quiet Riot was the first metal band to have a number one album in North America, and they are also credited with being a major starting point for the 80's metal scene. Kevin was an amazing vocalist, and metalheads around the world will miss him. In other news, I saw The Mist last night, and I have to say that Frank Darabont captured the elements of the story precisely. Instead of being a mere monster movie, it's also a human drama, and the religious tones in the movie are executed perfectly in comparison to the book. I really like the feel the movie had. I remember uttering "Jesus…" to myself several times after pivotal plot points, which is always a good thing. I would say that it is my personal favorite Stephen King adaptation to date, and I definitely will be picking it up day one on DVD (or Blu Ray). I also managed to pick up Metallica: This Monster Lives, the book that goes along with the documentary Some Kind of Monster, for $6 today at Coles. The hardcover one, no less. It was fun times. H.
