Yes, in this crazy future, alchemy is an actual elective. While you can't manufacture gold (that was disproven in 1832), you can create some various materials you can't normally make with regular chemical bonds. However, the course (originally RAP Chemistry, where RAP means Really Advanced Placement) is heavily involved. It's not like FMA, where you just draw the same circle over and over again. It's hard work, and lots of it.
The General Music grade is "10R11Mi." with "away" under it, intended to be read as "10 or 11 miles away". "10 or" sounds like "Tenor", which forms the joke.
Historical trivia: A lot of these pages were written back before the onset of Vista. The comics reference Longhorn and Blackcomb as names of M$ operating systems. Of course, Longhorn is the codename for Vista. Blackcomb is the codename for the next OS after Vista, but they already changed it to Vienna. Who cares anyway?!
