Bust Shots: Pristine
Egg Comics onAnother Bust Shot, and the updated origin story:
Pristinesuperhero (technically)Pamela Caitlyn Cross, age 26Hollywood, CaliforniaLos Angeles, CaliforniaElectromagnetic powersflightsuperstrengthThe only superhero who will freely admit to having had a boob job.Having left her St. Connor, North Carolina home at age 22 to seek fame and fortune in California, Pristine is the daughter of a formerly prominent, now very dead superhero called Zeus. Zeus and his entire team were ambushed and slaughtered by a very large group of their mortal enemies, calling themselves the Blasphemers. This ambush was made possible by secrets spilled by Pam Cross to a certain retired superhero/entertainment mogul, one Sir Simon Church, formerly Universe 99101-X's first modern superhero, Captain Cannon.Disturbed that Zeus and his team, The Pantheon were overshadowing the long and illustrious legacy of Captain Cannon's own Freedom Warriors, who started in World War 2 and continued in many incarnations up through the present day, Sir Simon, after finding out who the fame-hungry, electromagnetic young girl really was, ingratiated himself to her and gained her trust.Promising her fame and wealth, more power, and even charmed her into having an affair with him, Simon weaseled all her secrets out of her, and, clandestinely forming The Blasphemers, set them loose on Pam's dad and all her superhero "aunts and uncles".She was genuinely distraught over the loss of her family… for about a week and a half. Simon's money and attentions gave her the 'strength' to move on. She has no idea that he was behind it all.She also has no idea that her younger sister, Morgan Nicole Cross, is still alive in St. Connor, going by the name "Astraphobia" and is part of a team of young vigilantes trying to keep the beleaguered city safe in the aftermath of what the Blasphemers have done.A very large part of the reason Pristine is such a trainwreck, is that, deep down, she's nowhere as shallow, stupid and vapid as she appears.Though she would never admit it on a stack of Bibles, somewhere in the back of her mind, she knows what Simon has done. She knows what SHE has done. She has always known. Part of her was totally WITH Simon's plans and actions, as she knew that one way or another, as a civilian, OR as a superhero, she would always be in her father, Zeus (aka prize-winning author Alex Cross)'s shadow. For better or worse, she knew she had to be rid of him if she were ever to be her own person. All the drinking, drugs, sex and surgery is just her dysfunctional way to try and deal with her buried guilt.
