To clarify some things, the entire prank was Nick's idea. He's the one who approached me with the concept that I accuse him of some ridiculous copyright violation that had no foundation, and even wrote an entire story pitch for a source point. Amelius drew the "final concepts" images for the fictional character, and I may have posted the original announcement in the forums as well as made a few pictures, but on the whole it was a collaborative effort. We had all planned it out several days in advance, and the idea was to make our posts as heated and ridiculous as possible. It was all in good fun!
I'd like to say that I was touched by the people who genuinely offered their own advice and did their homework on the matter. Some of you caught on right away, but those who didn't were very sweet. Even though it ended up being a fabricated situation, I really treasure such expressions of support, and I felt guilty for continuing to mislead you. There were some people I wanted to message right away to tell them it was all a joke and they didn't have to worry (Draco, Milo and WrenMisty being some). I'm planning on sending everyone a personal thank you note who did so.
I don't plan on doing this as a regular thing—copyright infringement is indeed a very serious thing, and a joke as this can only be done once a lifetime. But this one was fairly successful, I might say!
