228. Censorship

Okay, so I may have gone a little overboard with the names seeing as Deadpool and Hellboy are not easily made kid-friendly and Godzilla has had two kid cartoons (the old one with Gadzooky and the one that was a sequel to the American movie…which was actually pretty good) without a name change, but I just want to play it safe.

The language thing is pretty common. Batman's line is from a Frank Miller comic. You can see the panel here.

As for the punching, the guns, the cigar…these are pretty common for censorship and Spider-Man: TAS back in the 90s wasn't allowed to have ANY of these things. Spider-Man could not punch, guns had to be lasers, and you can forget smoking.

Batman: TAS had ALL Of these things and I think some of the characters drank. They didn't say it was alcohol, but you could tell.

The Spectacular Spider-Man (the last kid-friendly Spider-Man) had a punching Spider-Man and realistic looking guns, but they made pew pew noises. Still, it was as step in the right direction.
