1200. Adaption Expectations

Yeah, I'm not that good at drawing Kurt Russell.

So I saw The Dark Tower and while I haven't read all seven books, I was both disappointed and relieved that Roland didn't go into the tower in the movie. Disappointed because I wanted to see inside the tower after three and a half books (I'm reading Wizard and Glass currently), but at the same time, I want it to be a surprise when I get there in the seventh book…if it even happens. I know some writers will build things up and then never show them because the journey is more important than the destination. Yeah, I like Gattaca, but not getting to see him reach the planet…or moon…or whatever was disappointing. (I don't remember where he was wanting to go.) I want to know what's in the tower so bad, but not to the point where I spoil the books for myself.

But regarding the movie…I wondered how that could go so poorly…and then I realized it was made by Sony. Yeah…that might be why.

Speaking of Sony, I haven't seen Emoji Movie, but based on the Rotten Tomato score and practically any Youtube channel that deals with movies…it's as bad as it looks. No surprise there.
