Having seen The Last Samurai, I can honestly say that Samurai is plural and refers to Ken Watanabe and his group of Samurai.

I'm of the opinion that The Last Jedi is Luke Skywalker and I think he's probably going to found a new Force users group. I hope so. As cool as it was to call him a Jedi in the originals, I think with what we knew of the Jedi in the prequels, having a new group is probably a good idea.
