Honestly, I liked the movie. I wasn’t looking forward to this movie because part of the appeal for The Joker is that he’s a foil for Batman. Outside of being a Batman villain, I don’t really care about The Joker. And I thought the movie was good…

But here’s the thing, if you took out the name “Joker” as well as Gotham and rename Thomas Wayne, the movie wouldn’t be much different. Despite the laughter, I never believed Phoenix as The Joker. He made a good Arthur Fleck, but not believable as The Joker. At least not to me.
