The main source of Maiara’s extensions is his back so Yuudai made a big mistake to try and attack Maiara from behind. If you remember from previous chapters or the character description in the link above the text, Maiara is able to send destructive waves across his extensions, which result in explosions(the attack on Harald Prison is a good example).

I tend to explain this a lot but I think you have all catched up to what's going on with the characters and story, no? If I lost someone because of the year-long hiatus let me know what questions you have regarding characters, story, etc.
