I could be mistaken but I think this is the first appearance of the MC's iPod Touch. I had bought one around this time and I'm still addicted to all the fun little games I've bought for it.
I think I mainly gave it to him because he didn't have headphones like the P3MC so it helped to give him something to be distracted by.
Rise's dialogue is always something that kinda bugged me. I know she was being flirty with him but…he's really only lived here like 2 months. She can't really have thought he knows all the happening spots lol
