I'm honestly amazed how much of the intros of this game are just characters talking on the phone to one another. Anyway, this is something that I really liked. When you play Yu, Yosuke, Chie, or Yukiko's stoy, Chie mentions how she talked to Naoto, and on her story mode you get to see that conversation on her end. Then on Naoto's story you get roughly the same phone call from her own end.
Most things before they enter the TV really do work quite well. It's only once the tournament starts that things get wonky and hard to keep track of.
