For some reason, I find this set-up enjoyable. For one, the events of the SQQ quest are the protagonist's fault. For two, it's not really an accident, and for three, no one is tricking him into this. He does this all on his own.
It also helps with the whole "Persona Won's MC is a sociopath" thing I was going for. He really doesn't see anything wrong with what he's doing here.
