The Write A Pinkerton Strip Contest!
pinkertonpark onI'm sure you logged in this morning/afternoon/four weeks after I posted this and said, "there are no words…why are there no freakin' words?" Funny story: About a month ago I was proudly displaying my original art to a couple friends when I ran across a strip I didn't quite remember. I paused on the strip…and paused…and then I got tired…and then it got late…and I was kinda hungry…and that's when I realized:
This is a lost Pinkerton strip.
Like, if I were super famous, this would be one of those things that would make headlines. And then I realized something a little more important. I had NO CLUE what the script for this strip was. I had no dialog! And what's worse, I really couldn't nail anything down on it. And THAT'S when it hit me. It was one of those ideas that, if there was a soundtrack to my life, a chorus of angels would have been singing.
LET SOMEONE ELSE WRITE THE STRIP!!!!
GOD, I am a freakin' lazy slob. But my laziness could be your payday! For you, my dear reader, now have the chance to write today's strip.
So here's the rules:
1. Spend a little time with the strip and come up with some snappy dialog.
2. Don't tell anyone else about it.
3. Write your strip in script form and e-mail it to the fine folks (me) here at Pinkerton (pinkertonpark at gmail dot com). Include your full name in the submission. HERE IS THE IMPORTANT PART: Make sure the subject of your e-mail is "Pinkerton Comic." Very VERY important. If you don't follow this rule there's a good chance your submission will get lost in the master in pile.
Here's the cool part: The members of Tall Tale Features will pick their favorite three. Think about THAT. Some of the top cartoonists in the country taking a gander at your writing skills. Will said skills pay the bills? Hmmm…that's up to you. Finally, the TTF gangstas will pass the top three to me where I will pick my number one favorite.
Sounds cool, huh? But hey, it can't be a contest without prizes, right? The top three winners will all receive a copy of the upcoming Pinkerton collection, That's The Smell Of Freedom. The number one choice will not only get the Pinkerton book, but you will also get a brand new Pinkerton T-shirt. What T-shirt, you ask… It's coming my friends. Tune in on Monday to see the new T-shirt design cause it's totally rad (or something).
The winner will be announced on October 15th. You can enter as many times as you like. Just make sure you submit one idea per e-mail. We have to stay organized somehow. Enjoy, campers! This is gonna be fun.
