Page description:
The Buccaneer is cruising through a dark day. We hear snatches of telephonic correspondence between the French Colonial Occupation Force in Tunisia and the high command of the French Coalition in Europe: Tunisia is out of luck. The Fleet Admiral discusses the real objectives of the actions in Matmata, Tunis, and elsewhere. In order to win their war, they spread it… Cleverly they’ve tied up colonial military resources in fighting local conflicts and keeping order so that their main war in Europe is all the easier. Captain Rasovich was never a full party to this big picture and now that it’s revealed, he’s appalled. He can harden his heart against the exigency of sacrificing a few sailors, but even he balks at treating whole countries that way. As you go up the chain of command the value of human life becomes less and less. ^_^

Commentary:
This is a rather talky page. All that nasty text covers up my lovely art! But it was always meant to be that way here. I love this page, it’s very blue. I worked quite differently here: I actually wrote out the text first and THEN drew the page in a way best suited to express that writing! I’ve never done that before… Usually the story is just all in my head and only written after I draw the page. I also drew this one up entirely on the computer, with no rough sketches, or scanned thumbnails. Lastly, the only reference I used was this page of Pinky TA. No photos, no mirrors, nothing, just memory. I’m quite proud of that, regardless of any mistakes.
