For anyone who doesn't know what a "Deus Ex Machina" is, that's LATIN (thanks whoever pointed that out…) and means "god from the machine". The story behind it is that in plays in ancient Greece, they would sometimes end it by lowering down a god onto the scene and solving all the problems instantaneously. In other words, a stupid solution. In this case, it applies to that guy appearing out of nowhere when there was a problem and solving it just like that.
