In case you're wondering why Daniel's hung up on getting a piece of Elise's jewelry back, it's because it's the only thing Elise had left that belonged to any member of her family (albeit her step-mother's, so not really family by blood). Through all the years of traveling and loss of possessions they endured, Elise kept the necklace. I don't blame Daniel for being crabby.
