Eddie's parents have no idea that he has superpowers. Being a teenager, and a smart one at that, Eddie mines his abilities to their fullest extent. F'rinstance, even though he's not a troublemaker, or a "bad kid" per se, Eddie still skips classes, stays out late, and goes to parties, concerts, etc, behind his parents' backs… all the while, still getting his homework and chores done, never missing curfew, and is a solid A - and- B student.
But, yeah… he's also a little off his rocker.
Here, we meet Deb Essex, Eddie's mother. A sensible woman who doesn't understand her son at all. In short, to her, he's a normal teen.
