There's a fair bit about Mana in this page, I'll probably explain it in more depth later.
By the way, if you think that Project Mango has a bit of an rpg feel to it, thats because the concept started as an rpg. I first made Project Mango on RPG Maker 2000. Its not complete yet, but I'm still working on it =P
