Chapter 02 Page 21
silentkitty onPlease note: I will be out of town this weekend for Otakon, so the next page may be a bit delayed. Thanks in advance for your patience. ^^
Look out! She's going super saiyan! Poor little Cai. What's going on here will be explained later, I promise. But not entirely in the remainder of this scene, since it's Cai explaining it, and she still doesn't know exactly what happened herself. =P
Also, sorry I didn't get a chance to respond to the comments on the last page, this week has been all sorts of hectic. To touch on a couple of questions that came up:
- The ceremony doesn't normally hurt the animal involved (although this particular cat doesn't look too happy at the moment). In a ceremony that goes smoothly, neither the animal nor the human die, they're sort of.. melded together into a new being. In essence, both cease to exist in lieu of their new form. If that makes sense.
- The bandages are both symbolic and practical to the ceremony, but for reasons that will be explored more later. No spoilers! I will say that one of you were close in your guess, and the fact that Margensen is still wearing his bandages is a clue. :)
- The animal that they're bonded with has to be present at the ceremony. That means they can't choose mythical creatures, although this is a fantasy world, so it's not out of the question that someone, somewhere might have found themselves a dragon to fuse with. :P For the main cast, I chose to stick with familiar animals because.. well, it just seemed better.
- Cai didn't have the third eye before this point. :) (To pre-answer a question I'm sure will come up: Yes, the eye is intentionally on her forehead at this point. It won't stay there long, and the reason it's there will be *drumroll* clearer later. Do I say that a lot?)
ANYWAY. Voting incentive this week is a design sketch for Nessi, a character from my other project. Click on the picture or the little blue TWC button to vote and see the whole picture!
