Oh my god I really am so so so sorry for baulking with the updates like that~ I've been having quite a few family issues and I haven't been in a very good environment for comicking… e_e; Things are much quieter now and I've begun to realise I have good friends online whom are awesome at supporting me and helping me get my drawing mojo pumping again~ So thank you friends~ ^.^
Firstly! I've had a couple of donations recently! Which is wonderful! Really it is! I can't believe peeps would donate money to me… so kind…! Makes me feel guilty for being crap at updating these past two weeks… ;o; I can probably buy a new ink cartridge now and some fineliners~! Yey! No more blunt pens! It's so massively appreciated~ you know who you are and thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.
Secondly! Some kind people nominated me for THREE categories in the Drunk Duck Awards! THANK YOU! My goodness~ I only saw it today~ I'm quite surprised really… but in a pleasent way! It would be very nice of you to vote for me if you could find the time but don't feel obliged to! And certainly if there's another comic in such and such a category you think displays that skill or talent better than I do then vote for them~ ^_^ I'm just flattered to have gotten nominations among all the other comics on DD!
Thirdly~! I haven't gotten back to some peeps about fanart - I'm very sorry about that. I have a habit of cutting off communications when I'm feeling down. I'm in a spunky mood today (and I've got a cute cat collapsed on my lap stopping me from going anywhere) so I'll endevour to get that done post-haste!
*phew* Okay, todays page~ I feel like it looks like I haven't coloured Brandy in… ^^; But do you remember him? XD I hope so~ Something I've learnt about character designs is that you have to make your side characters have much more rememberable designs than your main characters~ Look at something like Bleach for example, aside from Chad (who could be considered a side character anyways) all of the main cast have relatively plain designs. Naruto too - compared to the white-eyed Neji or Tenmari's four pigtails or Rock Lee's Rock Lee-ness or Deidara's mouth-hands or Itachi's eyebag things or Orochimaru's eyeshadow, Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke have very simple character designs. The point is, unless your side characters really stand out on their own people won't remember them - while your lead characters can afford to be a bit simple looking - not only because they're on almost every page so readers won't forget them, but also because you're drawing them over and over… Giving them a fabulously ornate design may make them stand out initially but there isn't much need for it and you'll get tired of spending all your time drawing them exactly right~ ^_^
So I hope readers remember Apricot's no-eyes-big-bangs thing and Rhubarb's silly emperor penguin quiff and Custard's cuteness and Brandy's one-armed-ness… XD These almost ludicrous character designs are made to be remembered~
