Comic 6: Introductions

So here it is, my first "official R-I strip". Not a pilot, but a proper all out strip. I hadn't actually fully decided on the characters names when I made the strip. There were originally blank spaces in the dialog bubbles where the names now are.

I went through tons of name ideas to try get a name that works among the ones that come close were

For the devil, now known as Christian
Jesus, Mark, John, Judas and Balthezar

I pretty much wanted a bibical name for him as the idea was that he was happy go lucky a rebel devil who did not believe in being evil. I finally decided to go direct and call him Christian

For the teenager with spiked hair, now known as Johnny
Marten, Mark, Mike, Seth, Jason, Charlie… list goes on

I wanted him to convey this MTVesque teen stereotype who tries to be alternative and "cool", but ends up falling in line with every other wannabe teen in the world.

I especially relate to that because that was me about 3 years ago, and I gotta say, If I weren't me, I'd hate me. I decided not to name him after myself in the end as
1. I don't want the comic to become too personal
2. Even I'm not capable of such self mockery

In the end, I settled for Johnny after Nny from JTHM, Dont be fooled though, Johnny is nothing whatsoever like Nny.

Trivia fact, Johnny's character design was based on Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park. The man I believe to be the ultimate in MTV hip-hop/rock angsty outcast wannabe culture.
