[5] Smoking Battles: Round 1 - Kent Super Light

Since Kittygirl was originally based upon me, Kittygirl's family was originally based upon my family. (Write what you know and all that.) Like all characters in Random Thoughts however, all the characters soon deviated from their inspiration. (I ended up taking a few main aspects of their personalities and really hammered and exaggerated it.)

My family didn't read my comics but my father did know I drew him for RT. He came across a drawing of a smoking battle comic one day and to be honest, I'm still not sure what he really thought about it. Ultimately though I don't think he minded and he never really asked what exactly I was doing. I don't think he was offended or anything.

My father does smoke but he's not obsessed with it. And yes, he only smokes Kent even though they don't sell that in Canada. At the time this comic was made, my father expressed a dislike of Kent Light once. He said that it's almost like smoking air. And that's how the comic almost wrote itself. :D

In a way, RT is like a time capsule of my life back when I first started university. I had figured life was funny anyway and since this is my second attempt at a comic series, I should start easy and write what I know. And what I knew was what was going on around me.

At the time, my father disliked Kent Light. I didn't like him smoking but due to various personal reasons, I didn't want to harass him about it. That was four years ago. Four years later, he decided to think more about his health and now only smoke either Kent Light or whatever that other lighter one is called.

But he still smokes. :S And it's still Kent all the way.
