True story: I'm out drinking with friends, and I go outside to have a cigarette. Just outside the bar, some 20 y/o guy is panhandling, just sitting there with his dog. I offer a smoke, we talk. Then I decide to sit there beside him and just talk. I didn't miss the loud music inside and it was a beautiful evening.

Friends of mine come out of the bar. They find me there, alone with a dog, panhandling. They just couldn't figure out why I'd be watching some guy's dog when he ran off to get some food. They couldn't figure out why I wouldn't just leave the dog there and go with them.

…I promised him I'd watch his dog. Was that so strange?

btw, my panhandling activities consisted of me being there and a had laying on the ground. I wasn't very active. But a few people actually did put money in when there was just me next to the hat.

But nobody stopped to talk to me.
