Scott 2008: Imaginary Girl isn't ugly in panel 1 by design, I was just a crummy artist trying to recreate an odd scene in FF #1 where Sue Storm enjoys a cup of tea with a friend. Meanwhile, Incredible Tough Guy's intro spoofs the Thing - the idea being people react to him like they do to Ben Grimm, even though he's a fairly average-looking dude. Swing and a miss, but at least it was over the plate.

Now, I've gotten to page three and not mentioned where these characters came from. They were collected over the years from childhood doodlings between me, my brothers, and our friends. I'll try to mention one every page or so. Imaginary girl is one of two characters I created specifically at the time I drew the cover because I needed a Sue Strom stand-in with vague-sounding powers (all women in the 60's had ill-defined powers.) ITG was created by my brother Eric, but the idea of him being a hero in a wrestling singlet came from one of us later.
