SAW 2008: Finally, at the end of this half-sized comic adventure, I managed to pace and execute a joke properly. Maybe it's not the funniest joke ever, but the set-up and punchline land and you get the joke.

I'm also a fan of this giant "posing on the planet" that I generally remember from old-style cartoons. In particular the X-Men pilot "Pryde of the X-Men." Moreso than actual comics, we take a lot of our cliches from cartoons like that, because cartoons offer a condensed version of comic adventures with all the depth you can get on a comic page filtered out to appeal to kids directly (instead of vicariously, which is more effective anyway.)

So that ends our first comic ever, originally posted online in August 2001. It was less than a month before Eric and I had prepared the first part of our ten-issue opus, Journey into the Sewer…
