SAW 2008: To my own detriment, I used to try to cram in a lot of corny "side gags." I realized before long that while that occasionally made a dry panel more fun, it could hurt a panel where the focus is not clear. Hence "begging for spare change Mario" is not so funny to me now.

Panel 3, our splash, introduces us to Sewerman for the first time, horizontal on the couch. Eric specified that he was to be watching the Breakfast Club and commenting on the plot, but he seemed to take great issue with my wording. I don't remember why or what his magical plan was to make that line infinity times funnier, but he was incensed at my wording, yet as far as I remember it didn't change much.

I guess the answer to this, like a lot of the disagreements we had at the time, was the fact that Eric was on drugs. It's a handy excuse we can pull out, whether it's actually valid or not.
