SAW 2008: I don't know how or why I fit 17 panels onto a single page, but somehow I did and all the dialogue fit in there kind of okay too, so it worked out… as well as anything in these issues anyway. As to why there's a Teletubbies reference in there… lord only knows.

Here we also get the introduction of Commander Raging Skinhead as Leader of the Legion of Grouts - of which he is thus far the only one. The origin of the Grouts is a complicated and pointless one that leads back to our cousin and collaborator (Sewerman co-creator) Kris Stemmer.

"Grouts" started out as "Grotes" which was a made-up TV word for people commonly called "Goths." Kris and I, upon hearing this word used on a crappy TV show, thought it was so ridiculous we put it in our pockets. Misremembering it - or perhaps not - Kris mentioned using "Grouts" as the bad guys in Sewerman when we were brainstorming bad guys. I liked it because it's the word for bathroom tile, which is weird. Either Eric or Kris came up with Raging Skinhead as their leader. This scene began the long-running gag of Raging Skinhead referring to his boss, Mr. Nazzi (my contribution, for what it's worth,) as "Jeb."
