SAW 2008: Okay, a fair bit to go over. One of our frequent sources for material was the Australian Transformers cartoon ("Headmasters,") wherein the character Soundwave was utterly dismantled in a battle, then rebuilt, shockingly enough, as "NEW Soundwave." So here we have Raging Skinhead being utterly dismantled and then in the next issue, first order of business is to resurrect him and give him the name "New Raging Skinhead," which he is called for the remainder of the series.

Mind you, I'm not saying this because I think the joke is funnier if you know the backstory. I think the opposite is probably true, but I always have to acknowledge when we outright stole in these early issues. So rather than "New Raging Skinhead" just being something weird and funny we came up with, it was a joke about an obscure cartoon known only to Australians.

The "Brooklyn Accent" not only didn't last, it didn't make sense. So here we have yet another scene originally written as animation that we couldn't have bothered to re-write for comics, just outright copies. We were too lazy for our own good. Luckily, we disabused ourselves of that habit.

Ah, the Legion of Grouts… what a mess they provided me. So ehre I have to design these four similarly-themed yet distinct interchangeable characters based on the Grout theme. I can't tell you what a headache they caused my little 14-year-old self who was just incapable of drawing them over and over (despite the fact I was their creator and had total control over their look.)
