SAW 2008: I'm not even sure if it comes up again later, but "I AM SEWERMAN!" was indeed Sewerman's official catchphrase as far as we were concerned.

This exchange has been intact since the failed animation days and while it doesn't necessarily hold up, the only thing really ruining it is the excess of side-gags. ("They're in the sewer, but I needed some background, so let's give them a balcony view of the CN Tower! Hurrlol!") The claustrophobic/homosexual joke is actually a flip-around of an exchange between Donatello and Casey Jones in the first TMNT movie, which is roughly to the last place their influence is seen in our book.

Like I said - the exchange basically works. Not as funny as I wish it'd been, but it at least says something about Sewerman's character and March's hero-loving.
