In my general course of playing around with the format of the strip, I decided to do a little traditional newspaper-style layout. The think I like about my RG work is that I'm free to adapt it in whatever what I feel from strip to strip. If it works, it works. And so we'll see a few of these. Which, of course, necessitates the use of word balloons, which I had avoided for a long while just because I liked doing so.

Today is my older brother's 25th birthday. It's terrifying to think how we're all getting older, getting into "Take control of your life" territory. The next storyline might address that to some degree. I'll be finishing up this storyline soon and then maybe taking a little break.

I recently happened across a website that makes its business giving massacre reviews to webcomics. The angst seemed directed mostly at webcomics that were more popular than they deserved, which nobody has ever accused RG (or RN Comics) of being. A lot of the remarks were harsh, but not inaccurate, which has led me to think more carefully about the direction I intend to move in. I want to leave constant reminders of the deliberately stark, ironic tone of this strip, and how aware I am of other strips' conventions and cliches. I like to think it's pretty clear, but not everyone sees the way I do.

The spiel as always: Regular Guy will celebrate one year of off-and-on existence next month. The point from the beginning, at still today, is to give me something to do while I'm not working on Redneck Comics and in order to allow for more frequent updates, I tend to keep the art simple and kinda sketchy.
