As happens once in a while seemingly everywhere, the title of this chapter is a quote from Futurama. As someone who doesn't like coming up with titles a whole lot, I often rely on references. I try not to make the humour about references, (a great failing of modern comedy) but things like titles, nobody pays much attention to anyway. The great Image series Invincible names each of its trade paperbacks after 80's sitcoms.
So after a brief period of meditation, I decided it would be fun to de-age Reg. I have my thoughts on how long this will last, and we'll see how it goes depending on my pacing. I'm at the right age where high school is fresh enough in my mind that I can write about it without being out of touch, but old enough that I'm not obsessed with it. I think.
In a few strips, I'll reveal what has happened to Anja. She's probably the least-developed character of the main three so I'll want to concentrate on rounding her out. This storyline might actually last longer than the last one (at least as far as strips, not time period I hope,) and I might split it up into different parts. Again, we'll see. Given that the strip is largely improvised, I can hardly vouch for my future pacing.
Yes, Reg is wearing a Legend of Zelda tri-force t-shirt. It was originally going to be a Weezer logo (=w=) which you can actually still kinda see, but I didn't want to be seen as picking on their fans because the band is pretty cool (read: I like 'em.) But the stereotype of teenage boys being gamer geeks is always in style, and they've probably learned to deal with it by now. The text of the strip also indicates that (in their natural forms) Reg, Anja and Nolan are all about 24 years old (born sometime in the early-to-mid 80's.)
Next strip uploads on Friday. See ya soon. As you might know by now, Regular Guy is a strip I do occasionally, with somewhat quick art to allow me to do them more quickly. Our next update will be Friday. If you're into my stuff, you might also dig Redneck Comics which was completed between 2001 and 2005.
