I'll cop to it. It seems like this strip shouldn't even exist. It's two panels and a lot of conversation about nothing we don't already know. Well, here's my argument: I wanted to have Reg and Anja to have a quick moment before I dive into the craziness of the new reality, I wanted to involve some back and forth dialogue with them. It's not a terrifically funny scene, the plot doesn't move forward much, and I was lazy as hell in drawing it, moreso than usual. But it was a quick little bit of business I needed out of the way.

As for the sparsity of the drawings - well, as I learned in the prologue and a few times since then, comic coverage is pretty boring if nothing else is going on. I wasn't about to draw a pageful of panels of talking heads when I wasn't even sure how many lines I wa sgoing to need. So you've got Reg on one side, Anja on the other (different fonts to help differentiate, and aid my B- lettering.) That's the scene for you.

And of course, because Anja wants no more surprises, the next strip contains exactly that. But for whom?

But hopefully, after all that jibber-jabber, you can at least appreciate a quiet moment amidst a storyline that Craig Reade finds a bit confusing to wrap his head around ("So is he living at home, or what?" I kid, Craig.)
