I admit Regular Guy is a bit tricky to follow, given the way I've decided to dart across timelines. I hope it doesn't make things too confusing for readers. I like to think things have been laid out in a pretty straightforward way, but I don't know how others may interpret each strip. I had a slight dustup with a friend when she asked me exactly what was going on in the previous two strips. Admittedly, she read them in about 3 seconds with me over her shoulder, so that might not have been pleasant.
If anyone ever gets confused or lost, don't hesitate to ask for directions or explanations. Then again, I don't even know if anyone reads these increasingly rambling monologues I type up down here. I just feel like they might be of use to some people, and that SOME of those people are actually going to notice them.
So here we are in the regular timeline, Reg playing the new kid. I've sort of taken liberty with the details of this reality - Reg is a "normal" kid, yet this is his first day at a new school? Well, I could write up the way reality had changed to reflect this, but that would be garrulous and cumbersome. So he just IS.
I really like the progression of those bottom three panels. Even if I'm no virtuoso, I like seeing myself get the basics right. I also enjoy the semi-background of panel 3. You'd be surprised how a few lines and a half a car can really fill out a scene. By comparison, I think Panel 4 is better off with nothing but what's there.
Panel 3 makes my second strip in a row to involve comparatively mature language, some kind of slur. Again, that's the character for you, trying to show how brutal this environment can be. It's comedic contrast with the dignified speech of the previous panel, and if you can't grasp that, if I need to explain it, then I don't know if I can help you.
The art as usual is a bit sketchy but that's so I can keep up my awesome pacing. Thanks for reading, feedback is much appreciated.
